First Week Come and Gone!

First week of practice turned out to be a huge success. We are working hard work and everyone got better this week!
We finally got our mats in! The team worked hard to get these into the school (See below).
We also held our first Parent/ Coaches meeting and had a great turnout. You could feel the excitement and enthusiasm in the air and the community is definitely behind us! Along with this, we elected our captains for this inaugural season:
Jake Mcmillin, Zak Hewitt, and Zak Thorum.
These three young men are great examples to our team, have a great attitude and work ethic and will be great leaders for the Mustangs!

Coach Danny DuPaix

Coach DuPaix (pronounced due-pay) graduated in 2002 from Skyline High School. He served an LDS mission in North Carolina-Raleigh. Upon returning, he attended SLCC and the University of Utah, majoring in Special Education. He graduated in 2010 and has been on the Dean's list since 2008. He is currently earning his Masters degree in Special Education, expecting to finish in May of 2011. DuPaix is married to Rebecca Sonnenberg and they have 2 children, Judson and Lyla. After his senior season, DuPaix helped out the wrestling program at Skyline as well as the football team. He re-joined the football staff while going to school in 2005.
In high school, DuPaix was a three sport athlete (three year letter) participating in wrestling, football, and rugby. In wrestling, he took 3rd in region and 6th in state at 189 lbs. which was considered the top weight class in '01-'02 based on returning state placers (6/16). He was a team leader for wrestling and football. At the U, DuPaix played rugby (inside center and 8-man) and helped his team maintain a top ten ranking and earn a playoff spot each year.
After the 2009-10 school year, DuPaix left Skyline (coaching) and Brighton High School (teaching) to do both at Herriman. He helped the 2010 Mustang football team to achieve their first win, first TD, and first playoff appearance. This will be his first head coaching position and he is looking for many more firsts in this inaugural season. He is excited to be a part of the first take down, first pin, and first individual and team victories.
The Herriman Mustang wrestling program will be top notch with state-of-the-art equipment, professional coaching staff, and competitive practices day in and day out. This will lead our student-athletes to MANY region and state CHAMPIONS!!! The only question remaining is "WHO will be the FIRST?"
Go Mustangs!
